I love to eat. And I love to eat great food. Olde Nola Cookery was excellent. Since I was by myself I sat at the bar. The young lady attending was very helpful. It’s New Orleans and all I knew was, it need to be Cajun or Creole. Sorry I don’t really know the difference. I choose the sampler and for $19 on Bourbon Street, I think that’s pretty fair! But I also wanted some oysters and they showed an up charge if you bought extra crawfish, they were happy to sub that with oysters. The oysters were fresh and sweet. The batter was just right, with a touch of heat. Served with cocktail sauce, they were great with or without the sauce. For the main fair, I had Etoufee, Red Beans and Rice with a small piece of Sausage, and Gumbo. I honestly couldn’t judge which was best. Maybe the Etoufee just because of all the hearty pieces of shrimp and meat (crab?). Anyway each of the three were great. Skipping the bar tab, I decided to treat myself to one more Louisiana dish, Bread Pudding. While Bread

After going to Oceana’s, the sister restaurant, and absolutely loving it - this was a let down. My house salad was blah for 6.50 (see pic), the fried fish and fried oysters were fishy - as in not fresh. The service was good. I was underwhelmed and sad because we raved to friends about Oceana’s and now they don’t want to go because to them it may be the same experience.

Christine was the sweetest waitress ever, gave us the best recommendations and was quick with what we needed. Jarvis is the silliest nicest guy, with a great sense of humor and quick with service. The gator bites are definitely best if you get them blackened, and squeeze that lemon on top. Get the Taste of New Orleans for SURE with the fried crayfish on top.
