Lunch Teriyaki Chicken $12 Nice ambience/atmosphere. Friendly staff. Plenty food to choose from. It comes with soup and salad. The seaweed miso soup had very good flavor and was the perfect temperature. The salad tasted good, but was an extremely small portion, even for a lunch side item. The chicken looked very good, but wasn't cooked enough and therefore some bites seemed too chewy. There were NO vegetables, just steamed white rice. Service was very slow and there was only one other couple in the restaurant when I was there and they already had their food. $12 is overpriced and you get more food for less money at most Japanese restaurants. I won't be back.
I went to this place looking for a decent Japanese place near my area so my expectations were not high. Before coming I was under the impression it was authentic Japanese owned restaurant. There is NO WAY this place is Japanese owned or authentic. Sushi quality was about same level as those all you can eat places so mediocre at best. The bent box had a lot of white rice and an orange as a filler (no typical tempura). Spicy tuna had some partially cooked filling. Asked the waitress about it. At first she said it was fish egg/roe but I am not stupid. She asked the chef and said it was mixed in with cooked albacore which is a first for me. I came in hungry wanting to blow some money on a Friday night but regret not driving further for real Japanese. $85 later for 2 people disappointed and still a little hungry. One and done for me along with many other people who recently reviewed the place.
What a hidden jem. You can't see it from the main road. This is an authentic Japanese restaurant with many items to chose from. The chef/owner is from Okinawa and Michelle was the best hostess/server/owner/bartender. She was very hospitable, gracious and kind. This was a wonderful dining experience of epic proportion and I look forward to eating another 7-8+ menu items. The tuna was very fresh. The calamari legs were perfectly cook, crispy yet not chewy. The assortment of pickled items were excellent. Just remember that this is a mom and pop shop and you should support them as much as possible. They are a part of the community and they want to see you enjoy foods from, not just Japan but from their hearts.
