This was my favorite restaurant in NYC. Seriously. I came here spontaneously for lunch after my visit to the Historical Society (go!) and loved every moment. So much so that I stayed for 1.5 hours - as a solo diner. The waiter was so sweet; had one of the BEST cocktails with actual lavender in it; and the food was delicious. The environment is calm, cool, and quiet. I'd even call it elegant. The decor is lovely. You just can't be in a hurry. I was fueled up enough and rested afterwards to brave the natural history museum afterwards across the street. This is a real treat. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

A real opportunity to go through an experience of flavors that is unique in the New York outlook. The chef's ability to express himself through such interesting combinations of ingredients and extract happiness onto your plate is extraordinary. For us the biggest star was the creamy polenta which is a must if you attend.

I’m sad to write this as I really wanted to like this place. Which is why I want to start with the pros: - the venue is stunning. It truly is a beautiful place to have lunch or dinner. - the main courses (we had the squid ink bucatini and the mushroom lasagna) were fantastic. Unfortunately…: - MOUSE! A mouse ran from the museum door straight to the kitchen, in the middle of the dining room… they didn’t even say sorry or offer anything to apologize. They seemed very u phased by the situation, which leads me to wonder how many of these do they see and there are in the kitchen… - the waitress, bless her, seemed to have no clue where she was. She didn’t know the menu, nor the drink menu. It’s problematic to me that I have to repeat the name of the first wine you have on your list 3 times in order for you to catch it. If you can’t say it, don’t offer it lol. - finally, there was a huge curffufle with the security guard and the maitre D. One (security) was yelling at us upon entrance to wear
