Perfect sushi, innovative twists on great traditional Japanese classics. The tasting menu is expensive but very unique, definitely not something you would find at any sushi place. The service is good without being too much and the atmosphere is very intimate and cozy.

Lunch on Saturday with friends, we walked in mid afternoon and got a table. We had the menu option where you basically you keep getting served until you tell them to stop. The food was very good indeed, small morsels but all in all a fine meal, worth a visit when in the upper west side NYC

Gari is open again after a long renovation ( to the building itself, not so much the restaurant). The space is actually smaller now as they lost a row of tables between the sushi bar and the windows; the big table is gone too. Space aside, the sushi was as fresh and delicious as ever. Great to taste all your old favorites. Still outrageously expensive, but a fun and guilty pleasure nonetheless.
