Steak 'n Shake

Huge turnaround here since before covid. Took a loooong time to reopen after covid but now dine-in is back and it's all good. Does seem the burgers have shrunk a bit (bun and all) but that's surely a franchise thing, not just a store.

I literally watched a guy while standing at the counter open a bag of onion rings with his mouth, and pour it in a fryer. He took not just one bite to open it, but two. I brought this to the attention of the manager on shift and all she did was say “don’t do that” Do they even learn food handling? The whole fryer was contaminated at that point. She didn’t have him dump it, she didn’t ask the fryer vats to be changed. just “don’t”.

Every time I come to this location they close when they decide they want to stop working, which is way before the time it says online; as well as never answer the business phone. Every time I go to their drive-through, I am ignored every single time until they decide they want to work or cook, I just don’t know how it’s possible for people to get away with working a business on their own terms and it’s really getting irritating as well as very sad that I can’t even go to my local steak ‘n Shake and get normal, quality service anymore. Although the food is always really good, when I am able to get even get it.. I just really hope something gets done about this because I love steak ‘n Shake and now I’m starting to miss it.
