I opted to stay in Shelton, CT when I had some business in Stratford, CT. I searched for a suitable breakfast place on my return tip in order to get filled up with some good food and coffee. Turns out that Sassafras was pretty much right on my way home. It's definitely a quiet, unassuming place that's sort of hidden behind a gas station and in another weirdly concocted shopping complex. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and offered any open table in the place. It was about 15% full when I arrived at around 9:30 AM. The server, who was outside at the time of my arrival, came to my table a short time later and took my order. I just ordered something simple ... 2 eggs over medium, bacon, home fries and rye toast. Before my food arrived, I tried some of their coffee, which was quite good and also in a nice size cup. The food arrived quickly and cooked to my liking.
