Rio Rio Cantina

Maybe this place presented poorly because it was spring break? I should note that from the elevated costs of the hotels in the area to $35 parking downtown to the overcrowded restaurants that San Antonio for spring break/St. Patrick's Day was a huge disappointment. River walk area could be renamed riverside tourist trap. Rio Rio was likewise terrible. Our server talked me into a premium pitcher of Patron Margaritas. If you get this $75 item, I recommend you watch them make it. We could find no hint of Patron. We watched from a distance because it was taking so long and could see them stack the cups from the dirty bar counter on top of each other. One was even wiped with a bar rag on the bottom before it was placed into another cup. I could not recommend any of the food. The server only came to the table twice once to drop the cups, which we had to pour ourselves and once to drop off the food. There was no chance to complain or try to get any compensation. Right on riverwalk for easy food ????. The food was pretty good, not the best I've ever had but, definitely no complaints. We had a pretty large party and they were easily able to accommodate as there is lots of seating. Friendly staff and service!

Whenever I am in a new location, I ask the cashiers and locals I meet on the names of their favorite food spots. This is one that came up. It's interesting that most of the Mexican or Tex Mex are all locationed near each other in downtown San Antonio... It is also interesting that chips and salsa do not come with your meal, they are an extra fee. We had the prickly pear, fajitas, churros, street tacos, and elote.
