Not what I expected in Houston! Exquisite food! We went as a family of five with children, and the staff was super friendly, attentive, and informative. Our waiter Esteban is a jewel! The food is Traditional Caribbean, and Punta Cana refined it into a cuisine. I had the Pernir as my protein which is slow roasted Pork Shoulder and it’s also known as Pulled Pork or Carnitas in other parts. It was one of the best full-flavored dishes that I’ve ever tasted. The side dishes were all so cute and tasty. The restaurant appears named after the town of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and if so, brings to Houston one of the most beautiful beach cultures in Santo Domingo. Humble restaurant, exquisite food, and perfect service.

Had a great time eating at the Punta Cana restaurant. Myself, my wife and both sons ate here. We tried the empanadas and yucca fries which everyone loved. For the meal, we had a Cuban sandwich, pork mofongo, and shrimp mofongo. The plantain cakes were delicious alone but the garlic sauces really made it pop. Cuban sandwich was delishious and we all were very full. If you like Caribbean food or have never tried it I highly recommend this as a new food adventure!

We went for lunch after church on Sunday and it was fantastic! We got the fried chicken (either Puerto Rico or Dominican spice, I can't remember) for an appetizer. It was good, but would probably choose something else next time. My wife got the Oxtails with beans and rice for her main dish and she really enjoyed it. The beans were great also, unique flavor. I had the Pernil which is shredded pork shoulder. Comes with a little cup of sauce on the side. Not sure what's in it but it complemented the pork well. It also come with a small shredded purple cabbage salad and dressing on the side. Very good. I had the Mofongo instead of beans and rice. From Wikipedia: Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish with plantains as its main ingredient. Plantains are picked green, cut into pieces and typically fried but can be boiled or roasted, then mashed with salt, garlic, broth, and olive oil in a wooden pilón. All three of the the staff members we dealt with were great also. We will definitely be back!
