Terrible Restaurant- At best poor management and service, at worst discriminatory. Pictures of the empty restaurant where seating for 8 wasn't available. When we called not 5 minutes before and we're told there was space. Offered a table outside while it's drizzling and expected to rain, when we were uninterested in sitting in the rain were told we could wait for the one table that accommodated 8 people which was occupied and also combined... in an empty restaurant. Don't waste your time or money. You may need to take caution if you're black too. Since trying to force us to sit outside every other person that’s come in has been asked if they want to sit inside or outside…
The service at Obon was was decent at Obon. The restaurant wasn't busy during my visit. Our waitress was pleasant but a bit unattentive unfortunately. My partner and I ordered the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, The Obon Ramen, and The OG Ramen. The salt and pepper chicken wings were hot, crispy, and flavorful. My partner had The Obon Ramen and he enjoyed his ramen. I had the OG Ramen and the broth was highly salty. The egg in the ramen had a jelly like consistency and texture to it. The texture of the egg was very unpleasant. The pork belly in the ramen was really tasty. I wouldn't recommend Obon for Ramen. Try Raijin or Ja Ramen for ramen. Both are two of my personally tried and true spots for ramen.
The place is indeed spiffy and “cool” looking, but not really my thing if the food isn’t up to par. Mind you, we only had the Ramen, and the sushi I saw being passed around seemed nice. As for our ramen the noodles where chewy the broth was almost bland, just the chilly oil that helped it out a bit, and the service was very slow. The plates are nicely presented though. Won’t come back.
