If you love a tiny hole-in-the-wall diner, this is for you. The food and service were great, but they still allow smoking in this tiny space which did not make for a good experience. It's hard to enjoy your food when you're inhaling the smoke from 4-8 cigarettes and the whole place smells like a giant ashtray.
Prices have recently went up due to inflation, but still a really good value and cheaper than most other restaurants. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Good tasting, fresh made comfort food. Small, cozy place with only about 10 tables plus a small lunch counter. I took off one star because they still allow smoking inside; Claycomo hasn't passed a statute preventing smoking in public places, so just a fair warning if you prefer to avoid this.
Nelle Belle's is hands down the best breakfast joint in Kansas City and the surrounding area. The food gets out to you quick, hot, and just the way you ordered it. The earlier you get in, the better.
