Kin Southern Table + Bar

As a true Southerner I appreciated this place. It's a beautiful spot in a great part of town and the menu is spot on delicious. I give it 4 out of 5 stars because they were out of pork chops when we went (my husband was really looking forward to them) and I think they can do a tad better with the BLT. It was HUGE. I like the idea of the slab bacon, but it was a bit much and the use of Texas toast with a honey butter was overwhelming. The tomato jam made the bread very soggy. They could do a rustic sourdough or even toasted (non buttered) white bread with thin sliced tomatoes and regular bacon and throw some lettuce and dukes mayo on it and call it a DAY. The mashed potatoes were good but too greasy. Would of been better more whipped. My husband ordered the catfish with collard greens and candied sweet potatoes and cleaned his plate! I really enjoyed this place. I came here because the food sounded amazing and to support a black owned business! I got catfish, greens and Mac and cheese. As someone who doesn’t eat pork, it was really nice the greens were cooked with smoked turkey. The catfish was really good and the Mac and cheese was alright. I really enjoyed my cocktail, Juju Juice. I would definitely go back.

Kin is a great soul food restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island. The food has a high quality preparation and taste that makes you want to come back for more. The attention to detail is obvious. The menu is tidy and curated which makes everything they do special since there aren't too many items to account for. 5 stars.
