There are three places in St. Louis who serve Korean style fried chicken that will truly make you want to slap your mama. O! Wing Plus, Fire Chicken, and Kimchi Guys. I’ve been coming here since the weekend they opened in 2019. I recall hearing about this place opening through the grapevine back then and I made it a mission to try it asap. It was love at first bite. I remember being with my cousin and when that chicken hit our mouths we just looked at each other and had a moment of silence. I always get the 10 wing combo. Back in 2019 this bad boy was only $14 and now it’s $21. That’s just the way she goes. Still worth every penny. The chicken itself is first-rate quality. They use an almost tempura-like batter that accompanies the various sauce options like a fine wine. My favorite is their “Original” sauce which is a little sweet and a little spicy. It’s a sticky, gochujang, soy sauce that can’t really be described in words. It transcends the vernacular of our feeble human minds. Run
A bit disappointing (see picture), but the flavor was there. My daughter loved the chicken and the hot sauce on the side (I ordered it naked because of her). The picture is part of the 3 piece dark combo. It came with fries and a drink. My husband had a spicy pork bowl and he thought it was good.
We went in on a Tuesday afternoon, not so busy at the time. Excellent location. Self-ordering was easy, waiting time was reasonable. The chicken in the Bibibaq was less flavor. The BBQ bowl was much better. The biggest disappointment was the fried chicken. Besides the crisp skin, the flavor was nothing like Korean fried chicken but American. Part of the chicken inside was not even cooked.
