Finally tried this place. So good! I got the jerk chicken, so much flavor, I can’t wait to try the other dishes

This is not Jamaican food and it sad that people think it is since it’s one of two Jamaican restaurants in GR. The jerk chicken was good. The patties are good but most definitely not Jamaican patties. The sweet plantains are good. The veggies were edible (ummm where is the Jamaican flavor?) but it also needed to be cooked more. The coco bread is not Jamaican coco bread. The rice and beans has no flavor. Their new spicy yellow sauce taste the most Jamaican. The chicken curry oh no not Jamaican chicken curry at all. Overall I was very disappointed, the flavor I was expecting never came. But I love the fact that they are dairy free and have options for people with food allergies something you can’t find at most Jamaican restaurants. Which probably explains why it’s so different form the real thing. From a person who is Caribbean and from NYC who has had real Jamaican food…

The meals I’ve had at Irie Kitchen when visiting the Grand Rapids area have been some of the best meals I’ve ever had. I always order extra so I can enjoy the food for multiple days. Absolutely delicious vegan options and they keep adding new things. Today’s surprise delight was the Irie-dilla (YUM!!). The staff are always super friendly and it smells amazing when you walk in the door. Definitely check out this place whenever you get the chance!
