El Guapo

My date and I thoroughly enjoyed happy hour! We ordered the Mezcal flight, house margarita, chicharonnes, chicken taquitos, and elote. At regular prices, I could never have ordered this much but Wednesdays has half off apps. They were all very high quality. Chicharonnes were crunchy and not too fatty or salty, just right. The elote was good, but it was my first time so I didn't know what to expect. The taquitos were large and we couldn't finish, had to take them home. The server was patient and informative, and came at all the right times. The decor is really cool too, with skulls on the walls and stuff. Futbol on the TVs was definitely the right move! There is some stiff competition in the area for Mexican restaurants but this place easily makes top 3.

The restaurant had a nice decor. The appetizer was very good, but the rest could generously be called okay, and definitely not worth $100 for two people. This was at best a $40 for two meal. We ended up having a snack when we got home. Also, it was a quiet evening and the waitress was very friendly, but may have been very new as she forgot about us several times (repeatedly empty drinks after asking three times, forgetting to come back with the card after paying.) There is potential, but they advertise as Latin food (think actual Mediterranean Latin) where it is decidedly Spanish menu. There are already good Spanish/Mexican/South American restaurants in the area, and this one only has decor going for it. It you like LA restaurants with high prices and not that great food, this is your place. If you want good food and service, I would recommend going elsewhere.

My husband & I came in Sunday afternoon for a to go order . everything was perfect ! The host was amazing he helped us decide on our order. We ordered the fajitas ( all three meats ) , while waiting we sat at the bar was offered amazing chip & dip . When we got home our fajitas which was a lot of food came with an amazing sauce , lettuce , cheese , beans & rice. So amazing that we came back for dinner! unfortunately we did not receive the same service even worse our order that cost the same price came with a little bit of steak chicken & baby shrimp. just rice & beans in the same small bowl, & we were given ranch instead of sour cream. After returning to get the rest we were told that the things that we previously received did not come with that meal & was given different sides. including brown guacamole . Kinda disappointing.
