Dough Zone Dumpling House Cupertino

Was in the mood for xiaolong bao and saw some good reviews for Dough Zone - decided to give it a try. I went solo around 4pm and there were plenty of seating. Ordering 5/5 : You scan a bar code at the table and then it takes you to an app that allows you to order on your phone . Within minutes they brought out the first couple appetizers..pretty amazing! Food 4/5 : Xiaolong bao - awesome! I got the standard pork classic. Tasted warm and comfy. Rivals other xiaolong bao in the Bay area. Interior vibes:4/5 Assymetrical table layout. Modern Clean n cozy feeling. Smaller tables for solo eaters . Most table are bench type seat 4. Look at the attached pics . Tips: Gets crowded on weekends and wait line forms outside ..I waited to go mid week.

Not bad, but not as good as some other xlb places. When I went they were out of pork xlb so we got chicken but it was still okay. The pork shrimp dumplings were cute. Wasn't a huge fan of the pork pot stickers because they tasted a bit cold and not crispy on the bottom. The beef potstickers came hot and juicy inside though. Chili oil wontons were good but pretty small quantity. Dan Dan noodle was okay, also pretty small quantity which is not bad since you can try more different options. Also enjoyed the q-bao and scallion pancakes. Though a bit too oily. The pickled cucumbers were a bit too sweet for me and my sister.

No real surprises this time around. We sampled nearly everything on the menu at their Seattle restaurant (in the Seattle International District fka Chinatown?) last summer at the recommendation of my son's dear friend who had moved there after college. This Cupertino restaurant is tucked away behind Main Street. Admittedly, we do not dine in much these days but instead ordered take out in person while masked. The greeter/hostess/server is super nice and quite attentive. She even comps us an alternative dessert because they did not have the custard that my spouse really enjoyed the first time. The order is completed precisely at their prescribed time and is thankfully accurate given we didn't open any containers in this impeccably and snuggly packaged order until we get it home. Each box is labelled with individual tags, though. Whenever ordering take out, I am reminded of the prophetic (and profane) words spoken by Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) from Lethal Weapon 2.
