Pasta Armellino

Mixed feelings about this restaurant... The pasta is incredibly good quality! You can tell it is made fresh in-house and the portions are pretty generous. I recommend the self-titled Pasta Armellino, which is the Tagliatelle pasta with crab and uni cream. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the texture was excellent! For $21, you get a decent amount of crab. I didn't taste much sea urchin honestly. It tasted like a typical cream sauce. The Gemelli with truffle cream sauce and mushroom ragout was also pretty delicious. Rich black truffle flavor and chewy gemelli pasta. Now for the downsides... I tried the corn soup, which had roasted pepper coulie and creme fraiche. It was decent, but honestly... despite the fresh corn chunks, it just lacked corn flavor to me. $11 is pretty expensive for what it was. First time trying Pasta Armellino. I tried the Mushroom soup, focaccia, and the Gemelli with mushroom and black truffle oil. The atmosphere here was great! Loved the open kitchen and bright seating area. I met with a couple friends and we took awhile to go up and order as we were doing a lot of catching up. We never felt rushed and it was nice to just be able to order on our timeline. The flavors of everything was good, but I wasn’t a fan of the gemelli texture. It was a little too tough for my taste. All-in-all it was a good experience but felt a little overpriced.

Everything else is good except the mushroom soup. Don’t order the soup: too salty, disappointing. I told the server that the soup is too salty and ended up not eating at all. But they didn’t do anything to fix. I guess this is because the food is prepaid and they charge the fixed service fee (15%). Just don’t order the mushroom soup.
