I celebrated my birthday at Crawford and Son. Originally, I had planned to go to Stanbury, a place on my list for ages. However, Stanbury doesn't take reservations and the wait at 8:30 p.m. was 1.5 hours long. Faced with that, we decided to stroll over to Crawford and Son, which had also been on my list for years. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. Our server, Caroline was fantastic, offering great recommendations. The word was that the biscuits were a must-try, and after tasting them, I wholeheartedly agree – they were incredibly delicious! We ordered the beef tartare served on bone marrow and boulted bread. Our server informed us that they always feature a type of tartare, but it's changed up regularly. Surprisingly tender with a bit of a kick, the spicy jerk octopus impressed us. Everyone from the hostess, to the bartender, and the servers were friendly and very hospitable. The drinks were incredible and the food is the best I’ve had of any cuisine in a long time. 11/10 will return asap.
Crawford and son is not only a top restaurant in Raleigh, but one of the best in the country. Intimate seating, tasty menu items, and really good drinks. Some of my favorites are the beef cheeks, crudo, beef tar tar(best in the business). I have not ordered a dish here and been disappointed. Great for any occasion. Must go to in Raleigh.
