Best southern BBQ place I've been to in CT. Burnt ends? Moist tender & delicious; brisket sliders? Rich & flavorful; gumbo? An experience you should not miss; fried chicken? Shatteringly crisp & moist; the cornbread? Yes! Order extra, we got some to go as well; the collard greens? Best I've had north of the mason-dixon line. Mac n' cheese? Yes please; Tenders? Great. Wings? Also good, but overshadowed by everything else! We ordered a lot of things and did not regret it. Will be going back, the gumbo haunts my dreams.
I've never been to this establishment. Made online reservations for 5 pm. on a Saturday night. Walked in at 4:56pm and was told we wouldn't be helped until the place opened at 5 pm. Our online reservations told us to arrive 30 minutes early to insure our spot. If you walked in and wanted to go to the bar, they helped you immediately. Ordered the beef brisket platter-dry meat. Cole slaw, grits and cornbread accompanied - all were tasteless. My guest ordered (waitress recommended) the pulled pork platter as it was juicer. Nope, it wasn't. Swapped out coleslaw for sweet potato fries at 1.00 more The other side was beans and rice, which had no flavor. We ordered the fried pickles. Thankfully, we did as that was the best item ordered and saved us from starving. Will not be back again. That was a 55.00 dinner (without tip) that we did not take home the leftovers. It was flavorless and bland.
Ordered takeout thru a delivery app recently. I went to a few years back and wasn’t a fan. This time, they definitely stepped it up. Great variety of items. I really enjoyed the catfish fingers and Mac and cheese. I could’ve passed on the brisket though. It just felt store bought brisket. Everything else was impressive. I would order from them again.
