Tres Potrillos Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar

This was our second stop at this restaurant the last few years - we stopped on a whim a couple of years ago, and wanted to return every since. The bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer is amazing (no..really...you MUST try it!). They have a large selection of "street tacos", which my daughter loved. I got a carnitas plate, with roasted pork, beans, rice, guac, salad w jalepenos, and pita. I was disappointed in the flavor - there just wasn't a lot of flavor to the food. The pork was tender and well roasted, but lacked any real flavor. The beans and rice were pretty good, but again, not that flavorful. I hope it was just an off day, since our first visit was positive. If you go, definitely try the bacon wrapped shrimp. they are cooked to perfection so that they POP when you bit into them. the bacon is super smokey, and paired with orange slices everything just SINGS.

Tres Portrillos is a great option for Authentic Mexican Food in Cleveland. It was quite crowded when we went tonight and parking was a bit tricky. I had the enchiladas supremas. (One chicken, one cheese, one beef and one bean enchilada) I liked the filling for each but I did not care for the sauce. It just tasted like a tomato sauce in my opinion. We enjoyed the mini taco appetizer and loved the chips and queso. Next time, I’m going to try the steak and shrimp dish or the fajitas!

Authentic Mexican cuisine. Lovely ambience. Great service. Good food. Huge portions.
