Old fashioned restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek. No frills, just good food and service. We had ribs with coleslaw and beans that were excellent and a cup of clam chowder. For breakfast they have a good selection of eggs dishes. We didn't have pie but they look great. Plenty of parking spaces up front.
The place smells great but the service was poor. Our waitress didn't start being friendly till she apparently messed up our order. My hamburger steak tasted incredibly boring. I'd have been better off just getting a hamburger, but the french fries that I didn't order tasted totally yummy. I'd give an extra star ???? if the staff were friendly. Parking: The parking was one of the best things about this place.
Serving the food on a tin tray was awful. Where was the dinner PLATE? I WANT TO EAT ON A PLATE. The waitress told us the staff burned their hands (and probably used. That's horrible. If you are wait staff you might burn your hands if you don't use a mit or a pot holder. Horrible. Wait staff get burned if u don't use a cover). The Turkey was cold because it's on paper and a tin tray. Awful. This used to be a great family style restaurant! Nobody wants to eat on a tin tray unless you are a prisoner in a state or federal institution. Horrible. Look I'm going to say this because I can. I'm a senior citizen and I know better. People that come from other countries have good ideas. But, this is disgusting because someone burned their hand on a PLATE. You don't change everything over persons that grabbed a plate without a cover. Who does that? Makes me upset to see this crazy stuff.
