We stopped in as El Nene was recommended on a few internet pages. EL Nene has a laid back atmosphere, they have an old truck and car that brings an old Tuscan feel to their restaurant. The prices for the food are great, you feel like your family could have a lunch or dinner trying a few different things. The Sonoran Dog is really good. I also had the Yaqui Taco which was soooo good. They literally have the best horchata my family has ever had. You need to order a few bottles when you go. We really liked all the food we tasted and will definitely be going back.
The place is clean and so the kitchen, good food very generous meat portions on all the menu items that I ordered. I recommend the grilled steak taco for sure. This place has the street food atmosphere, but they also have indoor seating.
After long drive from California to Arizona, we knew we had to stop by for some tacos at Taqueria Con el Nene. The place was very clean and the food was delicious. The food definitely has an authentic Mexican sazón. You won’t get gentrified tacos here! The tortillas were great and the salsas were on point. I really liked how they have indoor and outdoor seating. The only downside is that this place is on the $$ side for a taco shop. However, I understand that this place is located in Arizona and that you can’t beat the San Diego taco prices. Overall, would recommend. I paid about $11+ for two classic birria tacos.
