Sushi Gen

Pretty solid and high quality sushi place. If you’re looking for bang for your buck, the sashimi dinner gives you quite a lot it’s price. The yellowtail collar was pretty nice, very tender even upon reheating. Chirashi was a nice mix of a lot of different foods with nice sushi rice underneath. Overall very solid high quality place, and would come back, but didn’t blow my mind. There is quite a long wait sometimes. We waited an hour and explored little Tokyo nearby while waiting which was really fun.

I'm up for a long drive and waiting for 30+ minutes just to have some sashimi at Sushi Gen. Their sushi is the best I've tried and not to mention their reasonable price. I always get sashimi lunch whenever I visit since it's the best deal from the menu. (The picture is something different though.)

One of the best sushi experiences I've ever had in LA. The sashimi lunch combination is fabulous. So fresh so enticing. It comes with miso, marinated tofu and crunchy veggies. The sushi combination deluxe was also fantastic. Not only was it incredible but it was so beautiful it looked like a work of art. The squid was the most tender squid I've ever had. The salmon was so rich and silky. The monkfish liver which I ordered in addition to the combination dishes, was the best monk liver I've had. Genuinely foie gras from the sea. But it was a very long wait for lunch. We arrived at 12:40 and it was a 50 minute wait. They don't take reservations so you do just have to get there and stand in line. There is a great tea shop right across the street so grab yourself a matcha and prepare to wait but it's well worth it! Parking: They validate, but only for half price. Lunch parking was 8 after validation.
