Sumac Cafe

It is one of the top (if I don't say the first) Mediterranean restaurants in the Salt Lake City. They deliver the impressive tastes of Iranian cuisine and I found their food most familiar, among others, to what I used to eat when I was in Iran. Finally, the staff are so kind and responsive.

Too expensive for Vaziri dish. The waitress brought the main dish before the appetizer yogurt with cucumber that barely had any cucumber. I had to remind the waitress about the appetizer. If you’re white and American then you may like it since it’s a new taste for you, but if you’re looking for authentic this isn’t it, go to Vegas or California. If you want a better option go to Zeitoon cafe (Much better option and you get service directly from the owner). A rule of thumb for Utah dining- all restaurants here are glorified caffès and not really proper restaurants and you won’t find authentic food no matter the restaurant except some American and Western bars and restaurants where they serve great stakes and burgers like Texas Roadhouse. Everything now is overpriced and everyone expects you to tip them even if the service is horrible. Restaurant owners should pay living wages to their employees.

Hands down dest Persian restaurant in Utah period! I’m from Cali home of Persian restaurants and I have been missing the fresh flavors of Middle Eastern food.
