Went on a Sunday around 3pm and it was empty. I would normally be worried by that, but boy was I glad to have eaten here. Started with the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes. Both were incredibly delicious, fresh, and full of flavors. Followed up with the creamiest and most flavor packed shrimp and grits I've ever had. It was so good, I forgot to take a picture of it. Do not forget to get the beignets which are straight from New Orleans. Definitely coming back for more, soon.
Southern Rail has been a favorite of ours for years and is consistently excellent. We finally were back for date night dinner again yesterday and enjoyed the deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes with spicy pimento cheese and the fantastic fried chicken, mashed potatoes & greens done just right. Service was excellent (thanks Amber!). Great cocktails, whiskey selection & a big selection of excellent local AZ wines. Hint: unless you’re super hungry, one of the generous plates of the chicken is enough for a couple especially if you are starting with a yummy assortment of the appetizers. Go & enjoy delicious comfort food!
Amazing experience and gastronomic intelligence of Chef Beckett. This completely surprises me that this restaurant does not have a james beard award, I'd even say with the presentation of the culinary expertise they serve, that Southern Rail Restaurant should be a 1 Michelin star....easy ... amazing staff. Eye opening wine and whiskey list. True gem ???? ???? ????
