I always get the rice bowls and they’re just amazing. The only small problem I have is the rice itself. This isn’t a problem with Son of Egg, but pretty much most Japanese or Korean rice bowls, is that the rice itself is bland. So unless you mix it up thoroughly, you’re gonna get a mouthful of steamy blandness. Sometimes, there isn’t enough flavor to coat all the rice anyways. I am more accustomed to South Asian food where the curry gravy seeps into the rice making it super flavorful. Otherwise, prices went up a bit, but inflation and stuff I guess.
I’ve had to marinate on this one. We Went there the 21st of June, had an absolutely delicious meal. We made sure to compliment the staff before we left. Bernard the manager thanked us and asked if we by chance had any restaurant experience…. We did and are industry folks living locally. My partner obliged to help them out for a day, the pay the were offering was min wage, no big deal, it’s a one time help for a busy weekend night. 3 weeks go by of reaching out/ being ignored, told we have the wrong number my partner had not received payment or any acknowledgment for the hours worked. We went in to confront Bernard, he then oddly replied to the number we were told was the wrong number, scheduled a time to pick up the cash, first time he waited in the shop for 30 mins to be canceled on, the next time he had to wait another 30 mins in the store for Bernard to pay him. We’re not hard up for cash where $80 dollars will make or break us, but totally in principle you must pay your staff be
I fell in love with the concept of the Son of Egg the first time I spied it on my arrival in Albany. I was not disappointed. Good coffee and an unusual but delicious omelette was eaten in a relaxed atmosphere. Prices were great too. Highly recommended. Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: Yes … More
