Shinano Sushi Bar & Japanese Cuisine

The reason I give one star is its HYGIENE problem and the poor way the manager treats her customers. The restaurant was pretty empty when I went there for lunch. After ordering and receiving the teriyaki fish bento box, I took a picture of the meal to send to a friend. Unfortunately, as I was about to eat, I noticed the plate was very dirty. I brought this to the attention of the server, who apologized and offered to make the food again. The second time, I noticed something odd: the same piece of fish and the same rolls had merely been transferred to a new place. I just happened to have a photo of the first time the food was served and confirmed with the waitress that the same exact food had in fact on the second plate. The waitress apologized again and took the second plate to kitchen. After a few minutes, an old woman came to me said that they ate my food and they wouldn’t cook another meal for me. We love authentic Japanese cuisine, and regret not coming back to this wonderful restaurant sooner, now that we are out and about. The food is very fresh and delicious, and there are some sushi preparations I just don't see in other Cleveland restaurants. The Yakitori appetizer was great, but the soft shell crab and soft shell shrimp appetizers were exceptional. The omakase dinner was masterfully prepared with excellent selections and excellent flavor. My son loved his teriyaki steak. One tip: they serve no alcohol here, but you can carry in - and the Western Reserve Wines keeps a selection of good sake chilled and ready to go, right next door.

The food portion was small and the miso soup only had two tiny pieces of tofu, nothing else. I definitely don’t want to come back.
