Sekisui Midtown

Had dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday here. Ordered tempura udon and steak teriyaki for two. The noodle soup was terrible - it was just like soy sauce with added water, carrots and napa cabbage. Not the right ingredients in the soup - perhaps only the noodle style was right, and the pot was fancy . The steak was tough, dry, and salty but the white rice was authentic. Just a note that the Nongshim Udon noodle bowl from Costco seems much more authentic than the one here… I myself have to eat the instant udon to get back my taste. Didn’t care much for the sushi that seemed stale and small in portion. Lastly, the restaurant looks outdated (not like the photos), stuffy inside, and could do with a remodel. +1 star for a friendly server.

Sekisui has great sushi. There are cooked and uncooked rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. There is a bar you can sit at, booths, and tables. The server was nice and she was quick with refills and appetizers. The decor is nice. They've put up several paintings of Elvis after the renovation. Sekisui is the original sushi in midtown, and it's as good as ever. Vegetarian options: There is vegetable tempura as an appetizer or as an entree. There are also vegetarian sushi rolls that are quite good.

Takeout sushi rolls were pretty good. Salmon nigiri was very warm and had some tough spots. Forgot to put any soy sauce in the bag.
