Chicago classic serving up hot dogs, burgers, salad, Italian beef, deserts, and more complete with 50s and 60 decor. Service is always friendly and fast despite their typically busy atmosphere. Food has never disappointed and provides an elevated fast-food experience. A bacon cheeseburger with some cheese fries is my go-to order.
Always good, like the Italian beef, love the hot dogs. Their chocolate cake shake is on point. The only criticism I have is when placing an order I asked for the Italian beef the "Portilli's Way" and the counter person's response was "What's the Portillo's Way?" How could you work there and not be versed in a popular way to order one of their most famous items. Of course this place is still highly recommended. I also enjoyed their chicken fingers, which had a great flavor.
Portillos never disappoints. At first when I moved to Chicago, I didn’t see what the big deal was, but now it the chocolate cake shake, authentic chicago dogs, and cheese fries have won me over. It IS a big deal. Not to mention, the house salad is spectacular.
