Bar Bonmot

For transparency: I visited because the chef is the husband of a coworker and we had a team dinner to celebrate and check it out! That said the five star rating is super earned and actually really similar to the types of places I like to go for a nice dining event. Bar Bonmot is delightful. It's got a warm, refined vibe, both special and inviting, which is a hard balance to nail. The food is stellar! We had a shared tasting of the whole menu and there wasn't a single thing we didn't all love or at least like. Overall most dishes are a great size, artfully designed, and with punchy, interesting flavors that keep you scraping the last special sauces off the plates (handmade by my coworker and the chef!!) My favorite dishes were: the sliced beef with house soy sauce, which had a really delicious little slaw over it as well. The pork belly lettuce wrap which had an amazing herbaceous punch as well. Food is fine, nothing too impressive, the fried potato is good though. The drinks are good, I enjoyed the wines recommended by the server there, btw the servers are all very nice there. We have three people ordered tasting menus, one cocktail for each person and three wines, spent average $190 per person including tips. We might not go there for the food, maybe will go there for the drinks and order that fried potato.

We got the tasting menu for two. The portions were pretty small (we were still pretty hungry after emptying all the plates), but the flavors were exceptional- a good mix of Asian and western flavors. I would definitely come back, but next time we’ll skip the tasting menu and order directly.
