Padrinos Mexican Restaurant

Loved the food, service, and atmosphere. Absolutely hated the 3.5% markup labeled as “cash discount” that surprised me on my tab. Because of this I will not return. A discount is where you subtract an amount from the gross total of the bill. For example, if the menu says my margarita is $10, a 3.5% cash discount would mean my margarita would cost me 10 * (1 - 0.035) = $9.65 before tax. Instead, this establishment advertises their food at a menu price you realize only if you pay with cash. It’s 2022, payment with a credit card is the norm and I expect this overhead to be included with all other overhead costs in the menu price. It’s unfortunate that the decision-makers at Padrinos would try to recoup their overhead in such a deceptive manner.

Delicious! I stopped in due to the Yelp reviews, and the people spoke! The salsa is awesome, with crispy chips that were the perfect thickness. I ordered the lunch fajita Quesadilla, which came put quickly. Nice size, perfectly cooked. I will be back!

I love this place. It has become our fave restaurant on South Grand, maybe our favorite in STL. The servers are all fantastic and really friendly. The food is always 10/10. The outdoor seating area is really nice. Warning: indoor seating is always really cold in my experience, so bring a sweater. It's a great place to bring family or company.
