Enjoyed a special Birthday for my wife. We enjoyed the trip from Columbia. Terrific server. Surprised desert or glass of wine not complimentary. … More

We went for Easter brunch. First, I want to say that the service was exceptional. Only one out of four of us enjoyed our brunch. We had shrimp and grits, French omelette, French toast and eggs Benedict. The shrimp and grits tasted fishy, the French omelette was awful - the egg was overcooked, dry, hard, lukewarm at best. It was filled only with dry/chewy mushrooms (literally nothing else). The mushrooms tasted like they were dehydrated and then rehydrated. Served with a side salad that had nothing in it but lettuce and oil. Eggs Benedict was good, but was so small that it was more like an appetizer rather than a main course. The French toast was good, but tasted like regular French toast with syrup and blackberries. Nothing was served with the entrees sides were add-ons. Overall, prices did not match the quality of food that was served. We were extremely disappointed. Steak prices seemed way overpriced compared to other high-end restaurants downtown. Probably won't go back, ever... D

It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to a special meal. So I checked out many places and decided on the Oak. I went about 8:15 and sat at the bar. The bartender was excellent. She did a great job. I ordered the chopped salad to start, which looked good, but the dressing was a bit salty. I went with the NY strip for my steak, with creamed spinach. The spinach was absolutely delicious, with a sort of smoke/pork flavor; really creamy. But the steak was sub par. First, as you can see from the pic it looks more like a filet. And as I cut into it my knife I hit a tendon of some sort that seemed to run through the whole steak. Cutting it with a steak knife was difficult. Chewing it was nearly impossible. And I ordered it medium rare: ths steak was almost raw in the center. The parts I was able to chew were flavorful. But at a $63 price point I should be able to eat the WHOLE steak. So for the steak failure alone, I won't be rushing back any time soon.
