Nick's on State

Went here on a whim for a special occasion and didn’t plan on pigging out… we got here and from the time we arrived to leaving, the managers, wait staff, bar tenders were all kind and had sublime customer service. The recommendations kept coming and we enjoyed a wonderful three course meal. You have to try the Gooey Butter Cake and the Prime Rib Sandwich. I don’t think my husband nor I have ever had one better. Everything was worth the price including the drinks. We had a skinny marg, a whiskey sour, and an old fashioned just to try. All were delightful and very rich. Love this place and will be back to celebrate again.

We enjoyed a lovely date night at Nick's on State. Our server was attentive and made wonderful recommendations. We enjoyed the Asparagus Fries and Shrimp Taquito appetizers, then a mid course of the Steak House Salad, which featured and amazing warm potato salad, and wedge of blue cheese, and finished with the epic Cioppino and Chilean Sea Bass. I would highly recommend this Nick's location for excellent service and well curated foodie selections. Vegetarian options: Nick's offers a variety of vegetarian appetizers, salads, and a few main courses. Kid-friendliness: There were several families with children dining and the staff was accommodating of them.

It is a really good new place in Carlsbad, as a local, I'm glad now we're getting new cool places to go out. The service is excellent! So nice and friendly. We were there for lunch on a Sunday, I highly recommend making a reservation ahead so you won't have to wait. The food was really good though we waited for it for around half an hour so order a drink (the jalapeño watermelon margarita is really good) and relax. The poke salmon tacos for appetizers were super good! Although the prices are on the high side the place offers a great ambiance for a nice date. Highly recommend to sit on the terrace!
