Dinner was delicious and great, has as been past 20+ years of dining here. Flavourful. Authentic. Recommending, the fish fry item for appetizer, Daal Ghost with Beef (no bones) or Goat (bone-in) for Entree with a spice level of 3. Chai before or after the meal. And Rasamlai for dessert. Can't go wrong. Courteous Service. Employees and managers were pleasant, polite and professional, most notably the cook who presents the food to the table. Understanding that the day has been long and tiring, thanks for accommodating close to closing hours tonight????Feb 8-23 ???????? ????prakash | lewisville . one
Definitely the best Indian food that I've had since moving to Texas. While the storefront does not scream "curb appeal," upon entering the restaurant, the seating area was spacious and walcoming. The variety of flavors was overwhelming, in the best possible way (note: I have had Indian food only 3 other times in my life. So this is a novice perspective). I ordered one of the chef's specials (with meat, as opposed to the vegetarian option) and was stuffed. The sample portions do not seem like a lot, at first.Yet - between the rice and Naan - it is more than enough. Speaking of the Naan, that was my favorite part of the meal. I would come here again - with friends!
Mumtaz Indian restaurant used to be a gem with its delightful korma and succulent tandoori chicken. However, I'm sad to say that my recent experiences have been disappointing. The decline in quality and inconsistency has been noticeable. The flavors that once wowed me now lack the same depth and authenticity. It seems like they've lost their touch. While I appreciate that restaurants may have ups and downs, the inconsistency at Mumtaz has been a letdown. On some visits, the dishes are decent, while on others, they fall flat. It's become a gamble, and that's not what you want from a restaurant you once loved. Despite the decline, I remain hopeful that Mumtaz can reclaim its former glory. It wouldn't take much—just a return to the delicious flavors and consistent quality that made it a favorite. Until then, I'll be exploring other Indian restaurants in search of that exceptional korma and tandoori chicken experience.
