This was totally unexpected for the area. A quaint village laid out in an Italian, Tuscan style in North Georgia just outside of downtown Dahlonega. If we had eaten at the restaurant there may have been an opportunity for a 5-star review but we did not. And sorry but the wine isn't terrific but it is in GA so... take it for what it's worth. However, the pizza and bread from the cafe next to the restaurant and tasting room were out-of-sight! The views were also amazing. Lots of room outside to meet with friends or a large group if the weather cooperates.
I have been to many wineries in North Georgia and Montaluce is one of the most beautiful. It transports you to Italy. The drive up the windy road, the gorgeous homes, the rolling hills and then the gorgeous winery. Wine flight for $30 was fantastic. I liked all but one of the wines. We didn't purchase any food, but we did visit the gift shop on the way out. I will definitely go back in the spring!
Some friends and I did the hike and wine tasting (4 of us). It was a great time overall. The food was ok, but the views and wine and the vibe were awesome. The tour and hiking were a great experience. The tour guide was cool! It was wet outside and started to rain a little while we were out. Make sure to wear decent hiking shoes. Some sneakers can be to slippery for the trail.
