OMG !!! This is SO SO SOOOO GOOD HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!! The Mac was delish, the sweet potatoes were to die for and the chicken oh lawd soooo fire ????????????
I have never had jerk chicken that is so perfectly cooked it jumps off the bone, the only think keeping it together is the perfectly seasoned crispy skin. This, in combination with a side of fries and house Mac provided a hardy Sunday lunch, with portions big enough to share which I recommend. I was helped by the owner herself, the restaurant environment glowed with her particular charisma and warmth.
Saturday was my first time in Elgin, and I googled something to eat since I traveled over an hour for a funeral. This place popped up. Boy am I glad it did. Sweet potatoes and banana pudding was better than average. But baby thee best Mac n cheese from a soul food restaurant I've ever had. The fried chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection and dipping it in Moni's sauce just made it pop even more. They gave plenty of food it was well worth what I spent. I was upset toward to end of my meal because I realized I did not live in this area and wouldn't frequently visit. But I've already told fam/friends about and will return if I'm ever within 20-30 mins. Oh also Moni's living room was very warming makes an amazing place for a special occasion.
