Mimi's Comfort Food

After hearing all the reviews, I decided to check out Mimi’s and it was as good as they say. I feel bad they are stuck in that awful plaza, because they deserve better visibility. I went in early afternoon for lunch, and sadly it was completely empty. I hope that was an anomaly, as the people were very nice, and the food was good. Since it was lunch, I wasn’t looking for a huge dinner, but I wanted to try the ribs, so I got the half rack, which was huge and came with 2 sides. I got mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. The ribs were nice, and the sauce was great. The Mac n cheese was also nice, and the mash was really good. I think if they had lunch specials, they would be packed at midday. The half rack was way to big for lunch, and it’s tough to justify $20 for lunch each day…. Fortunately, this may last me a few days :) As for the place itself, it is very plain and essentially the same as when Kenny’s was there. Looks clean though. Now, my only complaint. The cornbread. I ordered the blackened salmon, added shrimp, with Mac n cheese and collard greens. $18.99 for this plate. When I tell you, it reminded me of Sunday dinner. Please support this black owned restaurant. I plan to be back and try other things. Service was great as well. Side note: their website says they are only closed on Monday’s but it’s Tuesdays as well

Attention! Attention! Attention! There's a new spot in town where the food is hot and ready for your consumption. I found Mimi's by doing a general restaurant search and saw the menu, food pictures, and other reviews and I had to try it! Not only is it freshly cooked upon order, but it's damn good. It's the comfort food that we all enjoyed and mostly grew up on here in the south. Meatloaf, fried chicken, collared greens, Mac n cheese, sweet potato souffle, etc. You want it? Mimi's got it! So go ahead and look at the pictures and menu items and I guarantee you'll be drooling to try her delicious food! We ordered the whole fried wings that came with two choice of sides and the Tangy meatloaf which also came with two sides. We added the pound cake/peach cobbler with ice cream to top it off and Ooooooweeeee it was good. The only take away was the cornbread (we didn't care for it) but it comes with each dish. This is a new spot and black owned. So go and support and enjoy some delicious foo
