This is easily one of my favorite spots for sandwiches in San Diego. The sandwiches are very meaty and generously sized. I do wish service moved a bit faster, however. There was a fair amount of time waiting for the bill to come. Staff is warm and welcoming. I recommend the Italian beef sandwich or the Reuben with corned beef.
I ordered an Extra Lean Corned Beef on Rye Half Sandwich. I chose potato salad as my side. It came with a pickle spear. The food was EXCELLENT, and the service was very good. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good meal - whether you are eating Kosher or not, the food was excellent.
The food is really great. I ordered the turkey pastrami on rye. They served a nice portion of meat on the sandwich, which I loved, and my waitress was super friendly. The side of potato salad was just right and was pretty close to tasting like my own recipe (homemade). I would have given five stars, if the booths were in better shape. Some of them were well worn out and taped over with duct tape most likely. I think it would be smart if they’d spend some money to repair the booth style seats, obviously they’re worn out in the mostly used spots and in need of repair, re-stuffed and recovered… Also, I think they could improve on their entrance to make it more convenient for people with disabilities. These buildings have been here for a long time and could be remodeled to comply with ADA standards. It’s really unfair and discriminating to make people wait for assistance to access the restaurant.
