Michael Smith Restaurant

Our second trip to Michael Smith restaurant for a Restaurant Week meal. We've been two years in a row. First, the hostess to the waitress and all other staff we encountered we're 5 stars. Very welcoming, very helpful, very well done. Second, the special menu for this week did not seem as good as last year. The salad was okay. The desserts we're not special at all. The main courses we're fine, but the rigatoni was al dente to the point of not thoroughly cooked. The pomodoro sauce was delicious. It's nice to try restaurants that we do not frequent often. And I would encourage anyone who has not been here to try it. I just found this meal less than spectacular.

It was our first experience at Michael Smith. Nancy was very nice and flexible with our tasting menu choices. She was also excellent with wine pairings. The swordfish was my favorite dish - very succulent and flavorful. Melted in your mouth. The fried scallops were also delicious. A couple of dishes came out that were like warm, that’s why I give four stars. We would definitely go back!

My first time here as well as my first experience with a chef's tasting menu. It was a great time, the server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I did the 6 course tasting menu, told them anything I didn't want and the chef provided fantastic dishes. The courses came at a good pace and I did leave full. I was a little sad that duck was not on the menu for the evening but I am looking forward to returning to try other dishes.
