Had lunch today at Maurice’s BBQ. It was delicious! Was it the Worlds Best as the sign claims? Not IMO, but I’m more of a TN BBQ boy myself. Maurice’s is likely the best BBQ in South Carolina though. And I’ve had BBQ all over SC. We’re definitely going back. I had pulled pork, Mac n cheese, fries, and hush puppies. My wife had fried chicken tenders (maybe the best we’ve ever had), fried okra, sweet potato casserole, and hush puppies. We can’t wait to try their chicken and ribs.
Equivalent of fast food. Some sides were good. Servings of the okra were ginormous. Meat was fine and the serving size was good, but this isn't some high end BBQ. Just average and quick. Folks were nice though. Would I go back? No. But I just prefer something different. This was quick and easy and good portions. I did appreciate that overall.
So disappointed. Grew up on good southern bbq like maurice. The tiny amount of sauce provided was ridiculous.. good thing I asked for extra.. which still was barely enough. I ordered the family deal. The hash was crazy greasy and too porky - it tasted unfinished... the rice was undercooked. The meat actually had a yellow tint.. appearing to have already been sauced which seemed like left overs. The meat was the same size as the sauce. The wait after a call in was stupid long. A total disaster
