I have been to Mandarin roots twice and on both occasions I liked whatever we ordered. This is upscale Chinese food which is not very spicy and has no smell or thick oil slick associated with Chinese cuisine. I will go there again.
Hidden Gem! The food is wonderful and service was really great. Sea Bass - flavorful and meaty Tapas - Ahi Poke, wonton soup, roti, steak tacos It's a bit pricey but it acceptable due the taste and presentation. You can probably get about 4 tapas as your meal, that would be around 60 to 80. (Good size portions) We had a party if 8 and the bill was about 350 that's with 18% gratuity parties (5 or more).
We enjoyed the Chinese Chicken Salad, Buddha's Fried Rice, Salt & Pepper Calamari, and the Wok-Tossed-Clams. Everything was delicious! We make it a point to come here every time we are in Palo Alto at lunch time.
