Let me start by saying my our waitress saved this review. Service makes all the difference. Chelle (spelling?) was amazing! As soon as we were seated she was there to let us know she was brining us some waters. When she returned with the waters she took our order. We ordered the oysters and they were decent. Honestly nothing spectacular about them. Chelle checked on us multiple times to make sure we didn't need anything, she refilled our drinks without us even realizing they needed to be refilled. Lately it has been hard to find service like this so the service we got from Chelle was awesome. If you visit here ask for her!

I’m a tourist… ordered 60 dollars worth of food to go and every item was HORRIBLE! The oysters were dried out and not shucked properly. The boudin balls tasted like mush and they did not include my creole mustard so they were dry and chewy. The bread pudding was okay, but the quantity for price wasn’t good. Overall, I had a bad food experience- NOT a good representation of NOLA cuisine! ????

Le Bayou was a typical restaurant in the French Quarter that had a dude outside luring customers in with praises of something. My wife was lured by her interest in trying the fried alligator. I hate to use the "gamey" description, but it was rather chewy and left something to be desired. It did not taste like chicken even though that is what my mind told me to expect once the food arrived. We ordered the taste of the bayou to share; it included: Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Crawfish Étouffée, Red Beans & Rice, and Cajun Jambalaya. All were fairly bland and under seasoned. My wife had to douse all of it with salt to get a taste. I wouldn't say it was bad, but I wouldn't recommend it either. Ok if you're in a pinch, but there are several other food options in the vicinity.
