Laurel Oak, a Southern Brasserie

We stayed at the Magnolia Hotel off Gravier this weekend for a girls trip and the front desk person suggested we try the hotel restaurant. We walked around the block because we were hesitant and ended up coming back to the have dinner. I will say we loved everything we ate and were also given some of their cauliflower to sample. Not only did we receive amazing food, but we also received great service by the staff, restaurant manager and Bartender. I would give the food a 10/10….but understand it’s on the more expensive side.

I have been trying to dine at this restaurant for almost a year but since I’m on the road and make 1 day stops in Nola I have missed their open days until this past Friday. I had the mushroom small plate that came with delightful sauces and freshly ground cheese and ate the Gulf Fish of the day - snapper. The bartender Tarajill made me a Pimms Cup with fresh strawberries and blueberries. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was outstanding! Very unique plates and lots of vegetarian options. We got the garden salad and mushrooms for an appetizer - pictured. For dinner the mushroom gnocchi had a hickory taste to it and the grilled shrimp had an Asian taste with the sesame, cold noodles, and ginger. The dessert was a gingerbread crumble and oh boy that was delicious. Overall a great experience.
