So I have yet to take the time to eat any place that didn't hand my food to me in a bag in Houston for a while now. I make a couple trips here a year now after living here for 6.5 years, and usually it's a get in get out kind of trip. Well beings that we had the time, and that we were to meet up with my future brother in law, a decent dinner was to be had. They chose for us, and we ended up here. And I couldn't of been happier. Service was great, location was pleasant (the misses spent a lot of time in the area and her brother has worked the same club for 24 years. Great atmosphere in the neighborhoods). The food was great, as were the drinks. This will definatly be on my frequent list (as we are moving back) and I can't wait to try more of the menu.
La Tapatia is one of those places for which every Houstonian has a story. This location has been here for years and I used to come here as an undergrad student for their late nights eats and great happy hours. This was my first time back after the pandemic shut everything down and they definitely delivered! Everything tastes like I remember. Both the red and green salsas are spicy served with hot and salty tortilla chips. We got the mixed fajitas and ordered them medium rare, but they were more like medium well. They didn’t come out sizzling either and seemed like they had been waiting under a heating lamp. It was great to be served our meal so quickly, but I wish they had taken the time to prepare them medium rare instead of getting our food with our margaritas. My margarita, The Ultimate, was salty, but my wife’s margarita, (the one below The Ultimate on the drink menu) was less salty. They come in huge glasses, but there are no prices listed on the drink menu — just a heads up. The
First time here and loved it. You always tell by the chips and salsa and sure enough they were hot and fresh. We got the stuffed poblano special and flautas and couldn't have made a better choice. The flautas were crispy and soft and the poblano was tender and covered in a delicious salsa. Come check it out. Only down part was coffee was watery but still drinkable lol
