La Fontana Authentic Italian Restaurant SC

I hate to bash anyone especially in the current restaurant staffing environment, but this was the worst dining experience I have had in Charleston. Hopefully it was just an off night and they did seem short handed. However facility was run down, dusty ledges, tears in booth seats, dead plants. Service was poor and not friendly. Food quality was definitely not in line with pricing. Eggplant Parm rubbery and lacking flavor. Chicken picatta was ok but lacking salt and flavor. $13 Mediterranean salad was romaine cucumber onion tomato and some feta.. Not worth $13.

I was really excited to try out this restaurant, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations! When I walked in, it was completely empty but they refused to seat me because they said they had a reservation and that if I wanted to eat I would have to sit at the bar! I didn’t understand how I couldn’t sit down at a table in an empty restaurant! I went to the bar and the bar tender was very nice and was promptly to my order! I received my order In about 20 minutes! The food was poor quality! It had no flavor! My bill was 30 dollars with 5 dollar quality! There are way better Italian restaurants in the Charleston area where you can pay the same price and get the service, more favorable food, and experience! I will not be back and this is definitely a restaurant to pass over!

I was in Charleston with my daughter moving her into her apartment at the College of Charleston when we ran into someone on King Street who recommended La Fontana. So we went and loved everything about it! The food is amazing, fresh homemade, truly authentic Italian food. We are from Boston and are Italian. Many restaurants claim to be authentic but are far from it. Not this one, we both ate our entire meal and had dessert after saying we couldn't eat another bite! Fabiana, the owner was so kind to me and especially to my daughter who was having all kinds of feelings. She made her feel safe and at home!!! I know the food is what you are all most interested in, so you will not be disappointed! If I could I would give La Fontana 10 stars!
