I few months ago I move to New Haven from Hartford. I tried this place like two months ago, I got the tacos of carne asada. But, this time I wanted to try their tamales, so, last night I tried to order some tamales, I called at 9:10PM, 20 minutes before closing, which I know most of the time employees do not like to serve when is almost closing time. But, it was going to be takeout, so I was like, why would not they take my order? The guy told me that they were already closed and did not take my order, if you guys are going to close earlier let customers know so we don’t waste time. Adding to that, this was my second time trying to get their tamales, but the first time they did not want to sell me five tamales, they could only sell me 4, and it was not because there were no more. It was because they only sell orders of 4 just the tamales, or three with beans and something else. Which makes no sense!! Good thing I did not waste my money, their tacos were not that great, my fiancé wanted
Nothing amazing here. It was pretty lackuster. Very standard Mexican and was pretty surprised that the ratings were as high as they were on Yelp. I tried the Burrito al Pastor and it was much smaller than one particular review made it out to be and it was served cut in half. With nothing else. A very odd presentation. The interior, consisting of rice, beans and a mystery pork product were cold. I'll try some other places next time.
The food was tasty and it had been made to appeal to the local taste. You quickly realize that you are far away from Mexico, Texas or California
