Kokonut Box

Well, this was a surprise. I was traveling down Broad Street, starving for some reason. I glanced over while sitting at the stoplight. I made a split-second decision and a u-turn in the pouring rain. Initially, I was not convinced that I would enjoy this spot. I was totally wrong! I enjoyed every flavor from start to finish. It was the first time for coconut rice and spicy slaw, but after my sinus path was cleared from the spice, I was a happy camper. Our dear teenager wanted to play it safe, but she attacked my meal. I recommend this place; it is excellent service, has quick food, and is affordable. I will be back to get my grub on again.

I paid $12.50 ($1.50 extra shrimp) for exactly 6 pieces of shrimp with the tails and legs still on some. Flavor was good but it wasn’t worth the price for only 6 shrimp. Maybe I’ll try the chicken if I decide to go back. Update: I did go back and try the veggie rolls and chicken. As you can see, my car key is bigger than the rolls. They were $3+ . Tried the chicken this time. Bigger portion but not as good flavor. Staff seems to be nice though. Clean restaurant. Tasty food just not enough portion for price.

I've been to their other restaurant in VCU.(Kokonut Grill). The menu is the same except this place doesn't have macaroni salad. The Sweet chili is my favorite sauce with the grilled chicken. The slaw and sesame noodles were okay but the white rice went better with the chicken. There's a layer of cabbage under the chicken that soaks up the sauce. It's great a nice surprise. The sesame balls were good but a little small. Been wanting to go back and try more dishes Overall really good and highly recommend it! Staff was really nice and food came out quick.
