This was what I've been searching for- the selection of frozen daiquiris was IMPRESSIVE! The music took me back to a simpler and enjoyable time with a DJ and music videos that were on point but not so loud that you need to shout to hear the person across from you. The pricing was so affordable and if all that wasn't enough the food was so good that if this place were in the side of a shady gas station that had a line out the door- you'd still catch me waiting for my fix. The staff was so kind and helpful and the atmosphere felt like a family gathering. Please come here for a great way to discover more culture and good in KC and in life!
We went for food around 10 on a Friday. It was busy but we got quick, friendly service. DJ was was good and the vibe was upbeat & fun. We sat in one of the patio areas, which are comfortable and open. I wanted to order the gumbo, but they were out (that's a good sign, it must be amazing) so I went with the fried shrimp basket. About two bites in, I forgot what gumbo was bc the shrimp was AMAZING. Hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly. My partner got the wings and apparently they were great because he didn't pause to talk until they were gone. We were really impressed by how tasty and fresh the food was, especially at that time. And frozen daiquiri with a handle? F yes
The service was all right. The decorations were local and festive. However, the Blackened Chicken was not to my liking. The seasoning was poor and the ???? was not done. After I had been served without flatware no less I had to hunt someone down to get a fork with which to eat. No staff came out to check on me or to inquire if I would like anything else.
