JR's Log House Restaurant

Honestly…I really really wanted to like this spot. I had breakfast here and it was good. I just had dinner there and my brisket is super tough and dry, along with my ribs too. Potato salad was okay and Mac and cheese was good. But I didn’t even finish my meat because it was so dry, tough, and lacked any flavor. Super disappointed in the homemade corn bread! DRY TOO. Might as well eat a spoonful of cornmeal. I also really don’t appreciate the pressure to tip in the drive thru. They hand you a ticket like at a dine in restaurant and wait to look at it before handing you your food. Long story short if you want to pay for overpriced/bland/ dry food…you should dine here….

Nice little sit down BBQ place. They also do a meat and 2 if you want something else. It’s a nice rustic interior, always pretty crowded, but the service is still good. The parking lot is huge, but gets nearly full during the lunch rush, get here a little early to save a few minutes.

Happy Birthday!! Today is their 40th birthday. Perfection! I swear someone’s grandma is back their cooking these GIANT pancakes in her 60 year old seasoned skillet. I am giving 5 stars on atmosphere not because it is the Ritz, it’s a roadside bbq joint that serves breakfast. For a road side bbq joint, it is perfect! Forget the chains around here, JR’s is wonderful. Leticia met me with a smile, kept my coffee full and even gave me a bit of a JR’s history lesson. She even put a pause on my to-go order to make sure it was nice and hot on my way out. “I’ll be back!”
