My first official meal in NOLA: the oyster PoBoy. Super fresh bread, oysters fried perfectly (though it could use a little more seasoning if I'm honest), and I also polished off half my wife's sandwich too. Place is exactly what you want in any good sandwich shop: it's a hole in the wall that puts all it's energy into the food. My kind of joint. I took off a star because I explicitly asked for dressed without mayo on my better half's BLT (and it even reflected it on the receipt) but the cook didn't pay attention apparently. I'll definitely go back again regardless.
Such good food! No wait, we got our food about 4 minutes after we ordered, good music and just such good vibes overall. I enjoyed eating here with my husband. Good seating, but there’s more space in the back if you need more seating. Overall such good po boys. We got the shrimp po boy and the gumbo with some cheese fries. It was all so tasty.
I have a place in my heart for divey little spots that let you get a taste of the city you're visiting. Johnny's is exactly that. Nothing pretentious, no frills, and not open late. Pop in, grab a bite, and go enjoy the rest of the city. Perfect for folks looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of the fancier sit-down restaurants. And great for knocking the dust off of your hangover.
