While visiting New Orleans, we wanted to revisit a past dining experience and stopped into Cafe Maspero. Upon check-in, the host was less than happy to accommodate a table for 4. No greeting, no smile, no sense of wanting to be there in the least! Once inside, our waiter, Antwann, quickly changed the mood. He was friendly, informative and made us feel right at home. We dined on fried alligator, Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Maspero’s Chicken Sandwich, and Crawfish Étouffée. The food was hot, fresh and tasted like New Orleans! As a bonus, we ordered the jalapeño hush puppies! Would highly recommend this establishment (forget about the host)!

Ordered their fried shrimp platter. Our waitress messed up the order and made us wait about 30 mins for the food. She was also quite unapologetic about it. The food itself was pretty meh. Both the fries and shrimps were soggy and cold. Overall, I would say there are much better restaurants at NOLA for this price range.

If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, or want to grab a drink - this is an option. Okay menu (if you’re not a vegetarian). I had scrambled eggs, toast and a fruit cup. Not sure how fresh the fruit was though. A couple of my friends said that their food was pretty salty (French Onion Soup and the chicken) Wait staff are friendly. Vegetarian options: Limited! Although in my experience, that seems to be common in NOLA.
